Adsense Earning
Use Channels To Track Ads By Google

It seems that every blog or website out there, whether it's for a hobby or a real business, uses Adsense to increase income. Unfortunately, many webmasters simply aren't taking full advantage of all of the tools and resources available to fully realize Adsense earning potential.

Adsense Earning

One of the primary tools that is often missed has to do with tracking. When building Adsense ads, you can create custom channels, or categories, to better track ad performance. If you do not categorize your ads, then all of your results will be lumped together, and while these statistics may provide insight, they won't provide much.

Most webmasters have ads on multiple pages within their site but without channels, they will not be able to see which ads have the most Adsense earning potential, which ones are producing the most clicks and highest click through rates, and so on.

By using channels to track your ads, you will be able to determine exact performance so that you can weed out the ineffective ads, placements or strategies and replace them with tactics that are proving to be more successful and improve Adsense earning over time.

Although you can use what is called URL channels, I use primarily Custom channels. I create channel naming conventions for each site which helps me organize my ads. For example, ads that will appear on this site start with FWT (free-website-tutorials). That way all of the statistics for this site show up next to each other in the Adsense dashboard.

Bottom line: Take the time to set up channels when you create ads so that you can track performance. You don't have to do it for every single webpage / ad placement, but certainly do it for your most highly visited pages. This way you can better understand which pages are producing and take steps to replicate successes.
